Meatballs with Chimichurri Sauce and Tzatziki

The dish combines elements from different culinary traditions:

 Meatballs

Originating from various cultures, meatballs are commonly associated with Italian cuisine (like Italian meatballs) but are also found in Middle Eastern and Eastern European dishes.

Chimichurri Sauce

This is a vibrant Argentine sauce made with parsley, garlic, vinegar, and oil, typically served with grilled meats.

Tzatziki

A Greek sauce made from yogurt, cucumber, garlic, and herbs, often used as a dip or condiment.

Greek Salad

A traditional Greek dish featuring tomatoes, cucumbers, olives, onions, and feta cheese, dressed with olive oil.

Combining these elements creates a fusion dish that highlights the flavors of Mediterranean and South American cuisines.

Ingredients

For the Meatballs

1 lb. ground beef or lamb

1/2 cup breadcrumbs

1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese

1 egg

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 tsp dried oregano

Sea salt and pepper to taste

For Chimichurri Sauce

1 cup fresh parsley, chopped

1/4 cup red wine vinegar

1/2 cup olive oil

3 cloves garlic, minced

1 tsp red pepper flakes

Sea salt and pepper to taste

For Tzatziki

 1 cup Greek yogurt

1/2 cucumber, grated and drained

1 clove garlic, minced

1 tbsp lemon juice

Sea salt to taste

Greek Salad

Ingredients

Greek Salad

1 cucumber, diced

1 cup cherry tomatoes, halved

1/2 red onion, thinly sliced

1/2 cup Kalamata olives

1/2 cup garbanzo beans

1/2 cup feta cheese, crumbled

1/4 cup olive oil

2 tbsp red wine vinegar

1 tsp dried oregano

Sea salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

Prepare Meatballs

Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).

In a bowl, mix ground meat, breadcrumbs, Parmesan, egg, garlic, oregano, sea salt, and pepper. Form into meatballs.

Place on a baking sheet and bake for 20-25 minutes.

Chimichurri

Combine parsley, vinegar, olive oil, garlic, red pepper flakes, sea salt, and pepper in a bowl. Mix well.

Tzatziki

In a bowl, mix yogurt, cucumber, garlic, lemon juice, and salt. Stir until combined.

Plate meatballs drizzled with chimichurri and a side of tzatziki.

 Greek Salad

Instructions

In a large bowl, combine cucumber, tomatoes, onion, olives, garbanzo beans, and feta.

In a small bowl, whisk together olive oil, vinegar, oregano, sea salt, and pepper.

Drizzle dressing over salad and toss gently to combine.
