Korean Barbecue Short Ribs
Korean barbecue short ribs, also known as galbi or kalbi, are a popular and delicious dish in Korean cuisine. The dish is typically made with beef short ribs that are marinated and grilled to perfection.
Ingredients
3 lbs beef short ribs, cut flanken style (across the bone)
1 cup soy sauce
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup rice wine or mirin
1/4 cup sesame oil
4 cloves garlic, minced
1 small onion, grated
2 green onions, chopped
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
Instructions
In a large bowl, combine the soy sauce, brown sugar, rice wine, sesame oil, garlic, onion, green onions, black pepper. Mix well to combine and dissolve the sugar.
Place the beef short ribs in a large resealable plastic bag or a shallow dish, and pour the marinade over the ribs, ensuring they are well coated.
If using a plastic bag, squeeze out the air and seal the bag. Marinate the ribs in the refrigerator for at least 4 hours, or overnight for best results.
When ready to cook, preheat your grill to medium-high heat. You can also use a grill pan or broil in the oven.
Remove the ribs from the marinade and shake off any excess marinade. Grill the ribs for about 3-4 minutes on each side, or until they are cooked to your desired level of doneness. Be careful not to overcook them, as they can become tough.
Once the ribs are cooked, remove them from the grill and let them rest for a few minutes before serving.
Serve the Korean barbecue short ribs with rice and your favorite side dishes.
Enjoy!
