Grouper Bites
Grouper bites are a popular seafood dish that is typically made from grouper fish, a large species of fish found in the Atlantic Ocean and the Gulf of Mexico. Grouper is known for its mild flavor and firm texture, making it a favorite choice for many seafood lovers. Grouper bites are often served with dipping sauces such as tartar sauce, aioli, or remoulade, and are a popular appetizer or snack.
Ingredients
1 lb grouper fillets, cut into bite-sized pieces
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon paprika
1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper (adjust to taste)
Sea salt and pepper to taste
2 eggs
2 tablespoons milk
1 cup breadcrumbs
Vegetable oil for frying
Lemon wedges for serving
Tartar sauce or your favorite dipping sauce
Instructions:
- In a shallow dish, mix together the flour, garlic powder, paprika, cayenne pepper, sea salt, and pepper.
- In another shallow dish, whisk together the eggs and milk.
- Place the breadcrumbs in a third shallow dish.
- Dredge the grouper pieces in the seasoned flour, shaking off any excess.
- Dip the floured grouper pieces into the egg mixture, allowing any excess to drip off.
- Coat the grouper pieces in breadcrumbs, pressing gently to adhere.
- Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
- Fry the grouper bites in batches for about 3-4 minutes per side, or until golden brown and cooked through.
- Remove the cooked grouper bites from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain any excess oil.
- Serve the grouper bites hot with lemon wedges and tartar sauce or your favorite dipping sauce.
