Fried Olive Bites
Fried olive bites are a delicious appetizer or snack made by stuffing green olives with various fillings, coating them in a seasoned batter, and then frying them until golden and crispy. The filling can vary and often includes ingredients like cheese, garlic, herbs, or even sausage.
Ingredients
1 cup pitted green olives
1 cup pitted black olives
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
2 eggs
1 cup breadcrumbs
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon paprika
Sea salt and pepper to taste
Oil for frying
Instructions
In three separate shallow bowls, place the flour in one, beaten eggs in another, and the breadcrumbs mixed with garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper in the third.
Take each olive and coat it in the flour, then dip it in the beaten eggs, and finally coat it with the breadcrumb mixture. Place the coated olives on a plate or tray.
Heat the oil in a deep skillet or pot over medium-high heat. The oil should be hot enough for frying (around 350°F or 175°C).
Carefully add the coated olives to the hot oil in batches, making sure not to overcrowd the pan. Fry the olives for about 1-2 minutes, or until they are golden brown and crispy.
Use a slotted spoon to remove the fried olive bites from the oil and transfer them to a plate lined with paper towels to drain any excess oil.
Serve the fried olive bites warm with your favorite dipping sauce, such as aioli, marinara, or a spicy mayonnaise.
These fried olive bites are a great combination of salty, crunchy, and flavorful, and they’re sure to be a hit at any gathering. Enjoy!
