Beef Teriyaki

Beef Teriyaki

Beef teriyaki is a popular Japanese dish that features thinly sliced beef that is marinated and then grilled or broiled. The beef is typically coated in a sweet and savory teriyaki sauce, which is made from a mixture of soy sauce, mirin (a sweet rice wine), sugar, and other ingredients. The dish is often garnished with sesame seeds and green onions and is commonly served with rice.

Ingredients

1 pound of beef, thinly sliced

1/2 cup soy sauce

1/4 cup brown sugar

2 tablespoons honey

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 tablespoon grated fresh ginger

1 tablespoon cornstarch

2 tablespoons water

2 tablespoons vegetable oil

Sesame seeds and green onions for garnish (optional)

Instructions

In a bowl, mix together the soy sauce, brown sugar, honey, garlic, and ginger to make the teriyaki sauce.

In a separate small bowl, mix the cornstarch and water to make a slurry.

Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.

Add the sliced beef to the skillet and cook until browned.

Once the beef is cooked, add the teriyaki sauce to the skillet and bring to a simmer.

Stir the cornstarch slurry again to make sure it’s well combined, then add it to the skillet. This will help thicken the sauce.

Continue to cook and stir until the sauce thickens and coats the beef, about 2-3 minutes.

Once the sauce has thickened, remove the skillet from the heat.

Serve the teriyaki beef over steamed rice, garnished with sesame seeds and sliced green onions if desired.

Enjoy!
