BLT (Bacon, Lettuce, Tomato)

BLT (Bacon, Lettuce, Tomato)

The BLT originated in the United States in the early 20th century. The combination of bacon, lettuce, and tomato likely emerged as a natural progression of adding different ingredients to the basic bread and bacon sandwich.

Ingredients

8 slices of bacon

4 slices of your favorite bread (toasted, if desired)

4 leaves of lettuce

2 medium-sized tomatoes, sliced

Mayonnaise

Sea salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

Cook the bacon in a skillet over medium heat until it reaches your desired level of crispiness. Once done, transfer the bacon to a paper towel-lined plate to drain off any excess grease.

If you prefer, toast the bread to your liking.

Spread a thin layer of mayonnaise on one side of each slice of bread.

Place a leaf of lettuce on each of two slices of bread.

Arrange the tomato slices on top of the lettuce.

Season the tomatoes with a pinch of salt and pepper to taste.

Divide the cooked bacon evenly among the two sandwiches, placing it on top of the tomatoes.

Place the remaining two slices of bread on top to form sandwiches.

If you’d like, you can cut the sandwiches in half diagonally before serving.

Enjoy!
